Japanese car maker Honda has launched a CNG variant of the Honda City in India. The Honda City CNG is priced at Rs 9.03 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi.The Honda City CNG will be available in V trim level which will get retrofitted with a Honda approved CNG kit at all the 45 Honda dealerships located in 28 cities where CNG fuel option is available in the country. The Honda City CNG variant comes with the standard Honda 24 months/40,000km warranty. Honda has tweaked the suspension in the City CNG variant to ensure that the added weight doesn’t interfere with handling or ride quality.
The Honda City CNG would be different from the current model with changes in engine, suspension and instrument cluster. The CNG kit for the City will not come from the factory but will be installed by the dealers. Honda City CNG is actually the companies first compressed natural gas powered vehicle and the model is powered by a 1.5 liter single overhead cam i-VTEC engine, which can run on either petrol on CNG.The engine is producing a total output of 102 PS and it has a peak torque of 127 Nm, compared to the 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque in the petrol only City model.
